Rehab Specialist

RuralEdge is seeking a full-time Rehab Specialist. RuralEdge is the non-profit housing provider for the Northeast Kingdom, managing a HomeOwnership Center that offers home buyer & financial education as well as a home repair program.

The Rehab Specialist’s primary responsibility is to perform initial site visits on potential home repair projects, generate a scope of work and provide oversight of all active home repair projects from job start to finish in accordance with the funder’s requirements. The ideal employee should have general contractor knowledge and strong interpersonal skills since they will be the staff member directly dealing with the clients through the project stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to clients needing home rehabilitation services as part of a lending program or as an aspect of technical assistance offered.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform environmental reviews and related forms to maintain compliance with state regulations.
  • Preparation of plans, specifications, scope of work descriptions, contract documents, construction supervision, contract management, preparation of bid documents, inspection of homes, obtaining competitive process for work, and researching materials & techniques.
  • Working closely with the HomeOwnership Center Manager and Loan Fund Specialist to ensure that projects are completed and meet the standards mandated by the funding source.
  • Managing purchase – rehab – resale projects.
  • Maintain the partnering relationships that we have currently established with other local agencies and continue providing referrals.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of the requirements set by the State of Vermont Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
  • Mission driven applicant with great interpersonal skills that is able to communicate effectively with our clientele.
  • Building/contracting knowledge preferred.
  • Computer knowledge and comfortability, including MS Word, Excel, and Nitro Pro.
  • Valid Driver’s License, current auto insurance and a reliable vehicle to use for work travel.
  • Available for occasional nights and weekends.
  • Able to travel to meet with clients, contractors and for training opportunities.

Salary starts at $37,000-$40,000 annually depending on experience. RuralEdge offers an excellent benefit package including a 401K.

Property Manager

RuralEdge is seeking experienced, multi-talented persons to manage properties. RuralEdge develops and manages 600 units of affordable housing in the three counties of the Northeast Kingdom. Our customers include elders, individuals and families who qualify for subsidized or affordable housing. We are a family friendly organization with a mission to strengthen Northeast Kingdom communities one home at a time.

The Property Manager is responsible for managing the administrative, day-to-day operations, financial, leasing/rental and maintenance of affordable housing units within their portfolio.  The Property Manager provides direction and support to the team to manage a portfolio of rural affordable housing. The ability to be flexible and work in a team environment is a must. Successful candidates will be confident, assertive and self-directed, and have varied skills including the ability to work with diverse persons, to be organized and multi-task, to solve problems and manage conflict.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma and 4 years’ experience in direct client services in a business or human services setting or an Associate Degree and 2 years’ experience in direct client services in a business or human services setting or a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Human Services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detailed work habits.
  • Basic computer knowledge and competence, including MS Word, Excel.
  • Ability to work cooperatively, effectively, and efficiently with a diverse group of people in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel for job performance.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and automobile insurance per State of Vermont.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with limited supervision. Ability to multi-task, and balance priorities incorporating day-to-day and long term goals. This position requires professional conduct at all times.

SASH Wellness Nurse

RuralEdge is seeking a part-time (20 hours/week) Wellness Nurse for our Supports and Services at Home (SASH) program. SASH coordinates the resources of social-service agencies, community health providers and nonprofit housing organizations to support Vermonters who choose to live independently at home. Individualized, on-site support is provided by a Wellness Nurse and a SASH Care Coordinator.

The Wellness Nurse is responsible for provision and/or oversight of wellness care and health coaching for SASH participants in accordance with Vermont’s Nurse Practice Act and the SASH Wellness Nurse Core Competencies. The Wellness Nurse is responsible for overseeing the well-being of participants and in coordinating health services with other members of the SASH Team and other community health providers. The Wellness Nurse supports a philosophy of aging in place consistent with the mission of SASH.

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Vermont.
  • At least two years of experience in a clinical setting, committed to an aging in place philosophy.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Must have knowledge of standard record keeping procedures (i.e. progress notes, HIPPA guidelines).
  • Must be able to work independently and part of a team, and possess strong organizational and time management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
